It was a sunny, frosty morning, quite pretty for those of us inside looking out. Pretty, too, for those out in it and appropriately dressed, especially for those looking forward to a warm place and a hot drink at the end.
And it was pretty for those outside without the necessary clothing, shelter and warm, though they may be forgiven if they did not notice, being more taken with the immediate concerns of simple survival. Wellness looks different from that perspective.
Wellness looks different, too, for those who feel the frost settling in after the warmth of Christmas, Hanukkah or Solstice. Who has not thought in late December, "At least the days are beginning to get longer. A little?"?
My wife remarked yesterday that with Christmas over it felt time to move on, to begin again.
Indeed, it is time to begin again, for the warmth of my own wellness and the wellness of my neighbor, whether next door or at the border.
We're all in this together.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
