Here I am, Steven the occasional journaler, at least in my written journal. It seems I keep rehashing the same stuff then fizzling out for long periods of time. Last year I started following Amanda's daily prompts in my online blogging. But not everything I could write for the prompts is stuff I want to publish, so lest I fizzle out this year, I shall do my primary journaling in my paper journal. Then, if I have something I want to publish, I will transcribe it here, as I am doing now.
On the photography front, I am following a 52-week challenge run by one of the groups on deviantArt. Doing a weekly challenge with film requires getting into the rhythm--start thinking about it when the topic is announced on Saturday, shoot it and whatever else in time to develop the roll on Thursday evening, so as to scan, work up, and post in time for the Friday midnight deadline. Lest I fizzle out.
This afternoon I dropped of my "Peter's Pick Retrospective 2013" acceptance at Image City. 2013 was a good year for me photographically--I had three Gallery Picks that will appear in the retrospective. I did not get any in 2014, partly because I only did the one show. Last year was also disjointed enough that I didn't concentrate on my photography very well, though I did come up with enough good work with the Argus C3 to put on a respectable show in November and have three images selected for this year's Magic of Light show.
I do my best work, it seems, with the Yashica-D, with the Argus C3 fairly close behind. I've also been known to do good work with the Holga Pinhole Camera. This year I am limiting myself to those three cameras, with the Yashica-D as primary.
Speaking of the Holga, January is pinhole month for me this year, so my 52-week challenge photos for January are pinhole shots. The first one, a portrait illuminated only by candles, took first place. Not a bad start, I'd say.
