Sundays are for rest. Sundays are for worship.

To say it another way, as Angie just reminded me, Sundays are for gratitude. (Thank you, Angie!)

Desperately we cling to the myth of self-sufficiency. I can take care of myself; I don't need anyone else's help. Except that I can't and I do, thank God. What a poverty it would be not to need anyone else.

Gratitude laughs at my self-sufficiency with a heart guffaw. Silly boy, it says, life is a gift. Yesterday was a gift and so is today. If you are still breathing tomorrow, that will be yet one more. Give thanks, young man. Whether you have little or much, give thanks for what you have. If you have more than you need, give to someone who has less so they can give thanks, too. We are God's gifts to each other, cheerful joker that God is.

Today I give thanks for my deviantArt cohort Ginger Cook who reminded me that today is World Pinhole Day. I'll have to load up the Holga and take it for a walk, beautiful Spring afternoon that it is.

Sundays are for gratitude.
